Widgets Plus – Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 October 2026

Widgets Plus (Android package com.widgetsplus.app, iOS bundle com.themejunky.widgetsplus) is published by ThemeJunky (data controller; contact below). It offers home-screen and lock-screen widgets, icon sets and wallpapers with themes. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your data. See also the Terms of Use.

Your widgets stay on your device

Widget settings (type, size, theme), countdown titles and dates, quotes, the city or coordinates you choose for weather, and your unlocked themes are stored on the device only (on iOS in the app group shared with the widget extension). Photos you pick for the photo widget are read through the system photo picker, resized on the device and never uploaded. Wallpapers are saved to your device with your permission. App backup is disabled on Android.

Weather

If you use a weather widget, the app sends the city name or the approximate coordinates you chose to the weather service over HTTPS to get the forecast. Approximate location is read only after you tap the location button in the weather settings and only while you configure it; no background location is used. You can always type a city instead. Weather data is provided by MET Norway (api.met.no, CC BY 4.0). City search uses OpenStreetMap data via the Photon geocoder (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL). Both requests go through the ThemeJunky server (admin.chrisbarin.com), which forwards only the selected city name or rounded coordinates and caches the answers; no device identifier is sent to the weather or map providers.

Advertising

The free version shows ads through Google AdMob and its mediation partners (for example Liftoff Monetize and, on Android, Meta Audience Network). Ad networks may process your device's advertising identifier, IP address, approximate location derived from it, and ad interactions, as described in the Google advertising policy and the partners' policies. Where required, a consent form is shown before ads are requested, and you can change your choice in the app settings (Privacy options). On iOS the app does not ask for tracking permission and does not use the advertising identifier for tracking. Ads are never shown inside widgets. Premium removes ads.

Analytics and crash reports

The app uses Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics and Remote Config) to understand how the app is used and to fix crashes. On iOS this collection is off until you opt in, and you can withdraw in Settings → Privacy. The data is limited to anonymous usage events (for example: setup completed, widget added, theme applied), device model, OS version, app version, country and language, and crash stack traces. Analytics is configured without the advertising ID. No widget content, photo, title, quote or coordinates is ever included. We do not sell this data. Google's processing is described in the Google Privacy Policy and Firebase Privacy and Security. Analytics data is retained for 14 months and crash reports for 90 days.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, the app can show reminders about new themes and offers. Your device's push token is registered with our server (admin.chrisbarin.com) together with the app version, language and time zone, and is deleted when it becomes invalid or when you uninstall. You can turn these notifications off in the app settings at any time.

Support

If you contact us from the app, your message, the e-mail you type and basic device information (model, OS version, app version, language) are sent to our support service so we can reply by e-mail.

Purchases

Widgets Plus Premium is sold as a monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase through Google Play Billing or the Apple App Store. We never see your payment details; purchase status is verified through the store on your device.

Permissions (Android)

Photos through the system picker: photo widget. Approximate location (optional): weather. Set wallpaper: apply a wallpaper you chose. Notifications: theme updates and reminders. Internet and network state: weather, ads, Firebase, billing.

Children

The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13.

Samsung Galaxy Store and Huawei AppGallery

This section applies to com.widgetsplus.app.samsung on Samsung Galaxy Store and com.widgetsplus.app.huawei on Huawei AppGallery. For these Android editions, it takes precedence over store-specific statements elsewhere on this page.

Purchases. Galaxy Store builds use Samsung In-App Purchase (Samsung Electronics); AppGallery builds use HUAWEI IAP (Huawei/Aspiegel, depending on your region). Google Play Billing is not used. The app receives product IDs, purchase tokens or identifiers, receipts/signatures and purchase status to verify ownership, unlock Premium and restore purchases. The store handles payment details; we do not receive your card details. See the Samsung Privacy Policy and Huawei Privacy Statement and the notices shown by your store. Manage purchases and any subscriptions in the store where you bought them; uninstalling does not cancel subscriptions.

Ads. Galaxy Store builds use Google AdMob and Google UMP consent. The Samsung build also includes Liftoff Monetize (Vungle) mediation. AppGallery builds use AdMob with UMP when Google Play services are present, and Huawei Petal Ads with Huawei consent otherwise. Providers may process the Android advertising ID (AdMob), OAID (Petal), IP address, device information, ad interactions and diagnostics for ad delivery, measurement and fraud prevention. Use the app privacy/consent options where available, Android Settings → Privacy → Ads to reset/delete the advertising ID, or Huawei Settings → Privacy → Ads and privacy to reset OAID or limit personalized ads (names vary by device). See Google’s Privacy Policy, Huawei’s Privacy Statement and Liftoff’s Privacy Policy. The AppGallery build also packages the Liftoff AdMob adapter; the no-Google-services route uses Petal Ads. Meta Audience Network is not included in these OEM builds.

Analytics and push. On Galaxy Store and AppGallery builds, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config, Performance Monitoring, Cloud Messaging and App Check are not used. The Firebase analytics, crash-reporting and push descriptions elsewhere on this page do not apply to these editions.

Permissions and online services. Photos stay local; optional approximate location is used only for weather setup. City searches and chosen coordinates are sent to our geocoding/weather proxy for forecasts, without Firebase App Check. Servers receive IP address and normal request data. These editions do not register push tokens, send support messages to our backend or fetch onboarding experiments. Theme, photo and wallpaper permissions retain the local purposes described above.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with an updated date.
